Been working on AVN as of lately: new themes, updates and bug fixes, new ad placements, new market system, uploading more images to the gallery, and more. All this work and I feel it goes unnoticed.

One thing I have noticed with many anime websites out there is that they will grab a system to use whether it be a forum, CMS, or blog and then customize it to their personal liking and stop there. Then when it comes to upgrading, they wont upgrade because 1) they don't want to bother or don't have the time, or 2) the upgrade will break the current customization they have done. The only time I have seen Admins upgrade their system is when they are forced to due to a major security issue, or because the software they are using will stop being supported by the creators. Yes, it's that bad.

This won't happen while I'm around. As long as I'm an Admin, I will keep updating our system, and if it breaks something, I will try finding a way to either fix the issue or get around it. I've been doing this for 3 years now and it is still a learning process, but it's not difficult if you just do the research.

One thing that has eluded AVN is an established active community. The one thing a website needs the most to survive, and that's what it lacks. I've spent countless times contemplating why this is happening but could never come up with any reason as to why AVN fails at gathering a community. Is it the lack of forum activity? Lack of images? Lack of things to do? Lack of a blog that is updated daily or weekly? Not viewer-friendly? Is it complicated? Is it confusing? The list goes on but you get the idea.

Maybe AVN is never destined to ever get an active community, but then again how do I know? For now I will keep doing what I have been doing for the past 3 years and keep going.
